It's every opiate addict's dream to be legitimately allergic to morphine. Then we have no choice but to give them dilaudid. grumpy

and im not sure that im really allergic, i just have vague memories of people thinking it was my pain medication that was making me feel bad and my mom never remembers the same things from my childhood that i do so she cannot confirm or deny. grumpy

Dilaudid is by far the strongest. Ten times more potent than morphine and five times more potent than heroin.
If it just made you feel dizzy or sick that's just an intolerance. If it made you itch or get a rash or swell up then it'd be an allergy. It's common for strong painkillers to make people feel sick. What were you getting morphine for anyway? grumpy

What were you getting morphine for anyway? that was informative! it was jut an intolerance then. i had surgery for that spine curving thing i cant spell that starts with an s. grumpy

No, that is incredibly uncommon. People who become addicted to pain medications from actual medical situations are generally people with chronic pain (back pain being probably the leading kind), not after a procedure that would cause acute pain, and it's usually oral pain pills like vicodin rather than IV morphine. Most people who become addicted to IV pain medications are introduced to it as a street drug, not medicine. grumpy
